اصولاً این گیاهان از نوعی موسوم به " فوشیا ماژلانیکا " که زادگاهش آمریکای جنوبی است گرفته شده اند و پس از مدتی فراموش شدن دوباره امروز مد روز شده است. به نظر من این تصمیم بسیار بجاست زیرا واریته های جدید آن به مراتب عالیتر از انواع قدیمی آن است...
انواع جدید، بسیار زیباست و دارای ساقه ای بلند و باریک است بطوریکه حتی در اثر وزن دسته گل انتهایی خود خم می شود. گلهای دلفریب آنها نه تنها گلخانه ها بلکه سایبان ها و سر در منازل را در تابستان زینت می دهد.
فوشیا را می توان مناسب برای گلداران مبتدی دانست زیرا کاشتن آن آسان است و با مختصر مراقبت موفقیت در پرورش حتمی است. خاک مناسب برای نهال های گلدانی مخلوطی از خاک باغچه ای شن دار همراه با کود حیوانی کاملاً تجزیه شده است اما برای فوشیا های گریان که در سبد یا جام کاشته می شوند مقداری خاک چوب هم باید به ترکیب یاد شده اضافه نمود.
رژیم مناسب برای این گیاهان در زمستان همان رژیم گلخانه های سرد ( با حداقل 5 تا 6 درجه ) و برای نوع گریان آن رژیم گلخانه های معتدل ( با حداقل 10 تا 12 درجه ) می باشد در مهر ماه پس از قطع ساقه کهنه گیاه را به گوشه کم نوری در زیرزمینی ها که از گزند یخبندان در امان باشد می برند.
****** مراحل تکثیر
Young Fuchsia plants, bought from the garden centre or nursery, can be a good source of 'cuttings' material to give you new plants. The following steps also apply to established plants growing in the garden. Cuttings are best taken between late April through to early September.
Most Fuchsias -or Fuschias - benefit from being 'pinched out', by nipping off the growing shoots after five pairs of leaves have developed. This forces the Fuchsia plant to send out new side shoots. More shoots = More flowers!
Use a sharp knife - carefully - or a sharp pair of secateurs.
Only take cuttings from healthy Fuchsia plants.
Cutting taken later in the year will need over-wintering protection.
Always make the cut for the actual 'cutting' directly below a leaf joint.
Use hormone rooting powder - if you wish.
Any seed and potting compost will do - add a little sand to 'open up' the compost.

Fuchsia cuttings should root in 2-3 weeks, when you can gradually remove the propagator lid or plastic bag over 3-4 days to allow the young Fuchsia plants to acclimatise to the non-humid environment.
